Obituary of Radoslava Alexandrov

Please share a memory of Radoslava to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.

June 24, 1963 - Sofia, Bulgaria

July 24, 2023 - Calgary, Alberta

We are sad to announce that on July 24th, 2023 Radoslava Alexandrov passed away. She was diagnosed with terminal cancer on June 14, 2023 and fought her brief battle courageously. She is survived by her loving husband, Lubomir, her children Ralitza and Chris, her mother Mladenka and her sister Tamara.

Radoslava was born on June 24th 1963 and was described as an intelligent and serious little girl. She met her husband-to-be in 1986 and they were married by 1989. A daughter, Ralitza, soon followed. The couple decided to immigrate to Canada in 1992 where they had their son, Chris. Radost was a strong maternal figure but she always had a passion for numbers. She graduated from SAIT with a degree in accounting and was ready to work! Radost worked at Calgary Alternative Support Services for over 15 years where she always displayed the utmost integrity in her actions. She valued her work and was proud to be part of an organization that supported others in the community.

Radost loved to travel and had a passion for exploring new cultures. Her favourite trips were sailing in Antigua with her friends Maia and Ivan and travelling through South East Asia with Lubo and Ralitza. Besides that, she visited numerous other countries including Mexico, Cuba, the United States, Greece, Bulgaria, St. Lucia, Barbados and much, much more. She was curious about other cultures and had a long bucket list of places to visit. Her family looks forward to taking a trip to Japan in her honor.

Along with travelling, Radost was an avid reader and kept meticulous notes regarding the novels she read. It was not unusual to find her with her head in a book buried under soft blankets on a winter morning. She would get so engrossed that time would just fall away.

Besides that, Radoslava was very funny and prided herself on being frugal. She gave excellent advice and she loved to dance and go to concerts and the ballet. Most of her evenings were spent with her nuclear family gathered around the dinner table where there was always good food, good wine and good company. She loved the board game "Pegs and Jokers", though she was admittedly bad at it. We will miss those family dinners very much.

We cannot talk about Radost without talking about her deep connection with her husband, Lubo. They shared a special and unbreakable bond solidified by long car rides, concerts, travelling and joking around together. The love and growth that they have experienced together is a relationship most pray for. They are soulmates in the truest sense of the word.

Radost was a bright light to all of those who knew her. Her sense of humour, funky fashion sense and astute mind will be missed.
Condolences, memories, and photos may be shared and viewed here.

In memory, we love you always,
June 24 1963 to July 24 2023

"Grief is a matter of the heart and soul. Grieve your loss, allow it in, and spend time with it. Suffering is the optional part. Love never dies, and spirit knows no loss. Keep in mind that a broken heart is an open heart." - Louise Hay
