Obituary of Shirley Isabel Oliver

Please share a memory of Shirley to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.

It is with great sadness the family announces the peaceful passing of Shirley Oliver (nee Duncan) at her home in Calgary, on Thursday, October 14, 2021, at the age of 93 years.

Shirley grew up on a farm near Rosetown and moved to Calgary during WWII where she met her husband Richard and raised her family.

Working for Northwest Nitro Fertilizer and Mar-Key Real Estate Shirley always preferred family, friends and being a homemaker.

With a passion for the outdoors, Shirley enjoyed long walks and gardening. From winemaking to jellies and preserves along with traditional family feasts, Shirley was eager to entertain and provide for others. To keep her mind sharp she was often engaged in either crossword or puzzles.

As the rock of the family our memory of Shirley will be cherished forever.

Shirley is survived by her two sons, Brian (Patricia), Warren (Janice); grandchildren, Christian, Jennifer, Cheryl, Michael, Jordan and Alissa; numerous great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews.

Shirley was predeceased by her husband Richard, 1993, her daughter Gail, 2017 and eleven brothers and sisters.

A Funeral Service will be held, on Thursday, October 21, 2021 at 2:00 p.m. for family and friends. Those attending will be asked to confirm one of the following, (A) COVID vaccination (date requested), OR (B) a negative COVID test (within 72 hours), OR (C) Medical exemption AND valid government identification (with name & date of birth) OR (D) Under 12 years of age.

Those unable to attend are invited to join the service of Mrs. Oliver streamed live.
