Janet Alexandra Traxel (nee Woods) lived a wonderful life and passed away on April 4, 2018 at the age of 75. Adored by all who knew her, Janet will be fiercely missed and lovingly remembered by her husband of 47 years, Donne, daughter, Susan (Ian Richards), son, Peter, and grandsons, Charlie and Phinneas. Janet was predeceased by her brother Walter, father, Sydney, mother, Alexandra, and sister, Ruth. She is survived by her brothers Percy (Christine) and Fred (Rosanne). Janet was a woman of exceptional grace, a supportive friend and mother who conducted the symphony of her family’s many activities with élan, and who was quite possibly the greatest school volunteer in history. With a smile on her face and a twinkle in her impossibly blue eyes, Janet welcomed everyone into her home: family, of course, and a large circle of both her family’s and her children’s cherished friends. There was never any doubt that Janet believed in you or that she would do absolutely everything she could to help those she knew to live their best lives—including sharing her passionate opinions on manners, and how the little things always matter. Above all, Janet treasured her life, knew how to have fun, and possessed that rare combination of acceptance, loving kindness, a good-natured sense of humour, which was challenged only when someone left muddy footprints in the front hall. Janet and Donne travelled extensively over the past twenty years, landing in just about every continent, and spent a significant amount of time golfing and hiking in the Sonoran Desert outside of Scottsdale. She loved these trips, not only for the adventure, but for the chance to spend these exciting times with her husband and best friend. Janet: you remember everything again, finally. So please, always remember how much we love you. Forever. A special thanks to Janet’s devoted long-term caregivers, Madge and Shirley Domeyeg, and to the compassionate staff at Newport Harbour Centre. There will be a celebration of Janet’s life later in the spring.
